Tinubu’s Supporters Take Campaign to Europe, Insist Obi Cannot Match President’s Performance

A support group backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, the Obidient General Worldwide Team, has taken its campaign to Europe, seeking to mobilise Nigerians living across the continent in support of the President.

The coordinator of the group, Mr Ikenna Azomchine, who was a supporter of Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, made the assertion while speaking at a gathering of Nigerians in Brussels, Belgium.

Azomchine, who described Obi as his former principal, insisted that the former Anambra State governor could not match the performance of President Tinubu, saying he had worked with both men and understood their respective strengths and weaknesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the group’s 10-day tour of Europe, Azomchine said he and members of his group had visited Brussels in 2022 to appeal to the European Union to support the emergence of Obi as President of Nigeria.

He said they were returning to Europe this time after witnessing what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration, with the aim of mobilising support for the President among Nigerians living in Belgium.

He insisted that, given the level of work being undertaken by the Tinubu administration, he was convinced that Obi would not have achieved similar results if he were president.

Azomchine said, “In this same Brussels in 2022, we made an appeal to the European Union to accept Peter Obi as our president, and we believed that he had what it took to be president and get Nigeria out of the mess that it was.
“I’m here on a 10-day tour and inauguration of the Obidient General Worldwide Team in Europe. We are here this time to campaign for President Bola Tinubu. We are making a U-turn to support Tinubu because of the competence, credibility and all that we have seen him do.
“You are not going to tell me what the President is doing in Nigeria because I have been in Nigeria and I have seen them with my own eyes.
“Let me tell you that Nigerian universities no longer go on strike. The students get NELFund support; the President pays students’ school fees, and the highest amounts of allocations are being received today by our governors. The President is doing well; he is awarding contracts.
“He has just awarded the Jos-Akwanga Road, which has been dilapidated for more than 30 years. He has also awarded a link road from Maiduguri to Bauchi. He has completed the Makurdi-Enugu Road, which is over 90 per cent completed, and so on and so forth.
“What I studied about President Bola Tinubu will shock you, and the things he is doing will shock you even more. I can tell you that Peter Obi cannot do it. I know the man I followed, and don’t forget that I have followed Peter Obi and I know the difference between both men.”
