Prof Charles Soludo, Anambra State Governor
The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has issued a stern directive ordering Amaeze Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities in Anambra East Local Government Area to immediately cease all forms of hostilities, maintain absolute peace and exercise restraint.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, on Sunday, Governor Soludo directed that all grievances, claims and presentations arising from the dispute must be channelled exclusively through the designated stakeholders from both communities at an emergency meeting scheduled to hold in Awka.
The Governor’s directive followed recent reports of a communal clash between Amaeze Aguleri and Umuoba Anam, which tragically resulted in loss of life and left several persons injured.
The statement said Governor Soludo had intervened decisively to restore law and order and prevent further escalation of the crisis.
It added that the Governor expressed deep sadness over the loss of life and injuries sustained during the clash, reiterating that violence, bloodshed and destruction of property have no place in a peaceful and prosperous Anambra State.
“To address the root causes of this long-standing dispute and achieve a lasting resolution, Governor Soludo has convened an emergency peace and security meeting with key stakeholders from the affected communities to hold on Monday 5th October, 2026, at the Light House, Awka.
“In the interim, the Governor has issued a stern directive ordering both communities to immediately cease all forms of hostilities, maintain absolute peace and exercise restraint. All grievances, claims and presentations must be channelled exclusively through their designated stakeholders at the upcoming Awka meeting,” the statement said.
The statement further disclosed that additional security personnel, including the Police, had been fully deployed to the affected area to enforce law and order, safeguard lives and property, and prevent any further breach of the peace.
It stated that Governor Soludo had reassured all citizens of Anambra State of his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring the peaceful resolution of communal disputes across the state.
