Ex-Anambra Lawmaker Warns Soludo of Plot to Turn Umuoba-Anam Crisis Into National Unrest

George Ike Okonkwo

A former Anambra State lawmaker, community leader and custodian of Obi Melchizedek, George Ike Okonkwo, has warned the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, of what he described as an alleged plot to exploit the ongoing Umuoba-Anam/Aguleri crisis as a smokescreen for a wider campaign of violence aimed at destabilising the country.

Okonkwo, in a letter dated Monday, October 5, 2026, and addressed to Governor Soludo through Gen. Adeleke, urged the governor, in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of Anambra State, to take what he described as urgent and decisive measures to prevent the alleged plot from escalating into wider unrest.

The letter, titled “The Realpolitik of the Umuoba-Anam/Aguleri Crisis,” alleged that the communal crisis was part of a broader strategy purportedly designed to divert public attention while other actors allegedly prepare for nationwide violence.

Okonkwo claimed that some opposition politicians were planning an uprising similar to the 2020 #EndSARS protests, alleging that the objective was to disrupt the administration of President Bola Tinubu and create political instability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He specifically alleged, without providing evidence in the letter, that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was involved in the purported plan.

Okonkwo further identified what he described as other “diversionary tactics,” including the reported political tension between Governor Soludo and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; the reported abduction of NYSC members travelling near Owerri; bandit attacks in Sokoto and Zamfara states; and attacks on campaign vehicles associated with President Tinubu.

According to him, the incidents were allegedly intended to create the impression of widespread public anger and give a national character to the violence he claimed was being planned.

The community leader also alleged that an assassination attempt was made against him three nights before the letter was written.

He claimed that unidentified hoodlums had allegedly been sent to eliminate him because of his knowledge of previous events surrounding the #EndSARS protests and his connection to Obi Melchizedek, which, he alleged, was targeted during the protests.

Okonkwo said the alleged plot had been “stalled” but warned that it had not been completely neutralised.

He therefore appealed to Governor Soludo to deploy the authority of the state government to efforts aimed at preventing what he described as impending violence.

He urged the governor to treat the situation as a serious security matter and take further measures to ensure that the Umuoba-Anam/Aguleri crisis was not exploited as a trigger for wider instability.

Okonkwo stressed that the situation required heightened vigilance and decisive intervention, warning that failure to address the underlying security concerns could create room for the crisis to assume a wider dimension beyond the immediate communities.

The letter reads in full:

H.E. Charles C. Soludo
Government House,
Awka.

Thro’

Gen. Adeleke.

Your Excellency,

THE REALPOLITIK OF THE UMUOBA-ANAM/AGULERI CRISIS.

As the Chief Security Officer of Anambra State, you need to Understand firsthand, that this problem was created with a bigger picture of violence in mind, this being a mere smokescreen to the main event.

Some top opposition politicians are planning another ENDSARS type nationwide violence as the only available weapon right now to disrupt the Tinubu Government, having lost Anambra State, their main hope to invade Southeast for votes and other clandestine manicures, in the forthcoming Presidential polls. ADC is the culprit, in my opinion.

Others diversionary tactics they’re employing are,

  • The bad blood between Soludo and Peter Obi, designed to occupy the minds of Anambrarians and rob them of focus on immediate security concerns.
  • The kidnap of NYSC members near Owerrri.
  • Several Bandit strikes in Sokoto and Zamfara States, to give it a nationwide flavor.
  • Violent attacks on Tinubu campaign vehicles, to give the impression that the masses’ anger against the President is responsible for the projected violence.

Three nights ago, they sent hoodlums to assassinate me, because they know I’m the only man that can block their nuisance, because my base, Obi Melchizedek – the Dwelling place of Jehovah, was the target in the last ENDSARS, by which token I studied and hold all their secrets.

And it stands stalled right now, though not totally blocked. The reason I seek your involvement to bring the imprimatur of the state on the effort to block the impending mayhem permanently.

SO HELP ME GOD.

George Ike Okonkwo
(Custodian, Obi Melchizedek)
