The Southeast Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijomah Arodiogbu, has declared that the APC is the only political party currently prepared for the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria.
Speaking on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC Secretariat in Awka, Anambra State, Arodiogbu stated that the upcoming gubernatorial and senatorial elections in the state are of critical importance to the party’s leadership.
He stated that the APC would leave no stone unturned in its bid to win the elections in Anambra State.
According to Arodiogbu, what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the Igbo people is a powerful testament to his commitment and a wake-up call for the Southeast to rally behind the party.
He stressed the need for unity across the Southeast, particularly with the support of the region’s governors, to ensure APC’s victory in the Anambra governorship election slated for November 8.
The meeting was attended by key party stakeholders, including members of the state executive, zonal leaders, and local government and ward representatives.
Reaffirming the importance of the elections, Arodiogbu said:”The governorship and senatorial elections are very dear to the APC leadership, both at the Southeast zonal and national levels. We are fully committed to securing victory.”
He also dismissed speculations that President Tinubu endorsed the current governor of Anambra State, who is from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), during a recent visit to the state.
“President Tinubu did not endorse the APGA governor when he visited Anambra to honour Chief Emeka Anyaoku. What was portrayed as an endorsement was merely a photo opportunity orchestrated by the state government,” he said.
Arodiogbu further criticized the ADC coalition, calling it unstable and untrustworthy:”The ADC coalition cannot stand. Those in that coalition are part of the real problems facing Nigeria. They are political buccaneers. Anyone supporting a member of that coalition is wasting their time, such individuals are not the kind of leaders anyone should follow.”
He also claimed that the current Anambra governor has lost support from key sectors:”The governor has become increasingly unpopular among religious institutions, traditional rulers, market women, and other critical groups. He stands no chance in the upcoming election.”
Also speaking at the meeting, the APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, praised President Tinubu’s leadership and urged Dr. Arodiogbu to draw the attention of the APC national leadership to the significance of the Anambra elections.
Ejidike encouraged all party members to participate actively, describing the forthcoming House of Assembly and senatorial elections as a litmus test for the APC and a stepping stone toward victory in the November 8 governorship election.
