Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife
The National Inter-Tribal and Inter-Religious Alliance for Peace, Unity and Development has endorsed Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, CON, FCNA, for a return to the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing her legislative experience, political track record and humanitarian contributions.
The alliance announced its endorsement in a statement issued after its quarterly meeting held at Frazier Suites, Central Business District, Abuja.
The National President of the organisation, Alhaji Mauruf Abubakar, said the decision was informed by Ekwunife’s record in public service, legislative contributions and philanthropic activities.
Ekwunife served in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015 before representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Senate, where she chaired the Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation.
Beyond her legislative engagements, she has been associated with various initiatives aimed at supporting education, empowering women, promoting youth development and providing assistance to vulnerable members of society.
Abubakar stressed that effective political representation requires experience, accountability and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.
He reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence, national unity and sustainable development across Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
The organisation expressed confidence in Ekwunife’s experience and capacity to contribute to effective representation, calling for greater emphasis on responsible leadership, inclusiveness and sustainable development as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
