Ojimba Launches APGA Campaign Group, Throws Weight Behind Nwifuru’s Re-election

By Nabob Ogbonna, Abakaliki

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Chief Chikaodili Ojimba, has urged his supporters to work for the re-election of Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, while also mobilising support for all APGA candidates in the state.

Ojimba, who has intensified his campaign despite repeated calls by the state governor for him to abandon his 2027 senatorial ambition and support the APC candidate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, made the appeal on Saturday evening during the formal inauguration of a political pressure group formed from the Chipping Sellers Movement.

The event, held at Ojimba’s campaign office in Abakaliki, the state capital, marked the transformation of the movement into a political pressure group to support his senatorial ambition and mobilise votes for the party’s candidates.

Addressing members of the group, Ojimba said the movement had two major responsibilities: to deliver votes for all APGA candidates in the state and to support Governor Nwifuru’s re-election bid in 2027.

He urged members to pursue these objectives peacefully in their respective local government areas and wards, while maintaining close relationships with the electorate and remaining responsive to their needs beyond election periods.

Ojimba said: “There are two major issues we are pursuing. One is for you, as members of the Chipping Sellers Movement, to deliver all APGA candidates and support the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru in 2027.
“You have to do this peacefully in your respective local government areas and wards. You should maintain close relationships with the electorate and remain responsive to their needs beyond election periods.”

Also speaking, the APGA State Chairman, Chukwudi Nwankwo, cautioned members of the group against inflammatory rhetoric, urging them to respect the rights of supporters of other political parties.

Nwankwo said the movement would extend its activities to Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi South Senatorial Districts as part of efforts to broaden its organisational reach and strengthen the party’s presence across the state.

He also called on members to intensify efforts to encourage eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in their respective wards, stressing that voter participation was essential to achieving the political change they desired.

“We are also using this opportunity to ask you to intensify efforts in the collection of Permanent Voter Cards in your various wards.

“That is very necessary because, without your PVCs, the desired change we are looking for will not come. So, it is very important,” he said.

Earlier, the APGA candidate for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Barrister Tochukwu Ogalagu, popularly known as T-Man, urged members of the movement to intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure the success of the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Ogalagu emphasised the need for effective grassroots communication, voter education and organisational discipline, urging members to educate the electorate on the voting process and how to identify candidates through their respective party symbols on the ballot.

He said effective voter education and sustained engagement with the electorate would be crucial to mobilising support for APGA candidates during the elections.
