Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has declared that no political ambition, consideration or personal interest should take precedence over doing what is right.

He stressed that public office must be exercised with integrity, humility and accountability.

Otti said leadership was a responsibility entrusted to those in authority by God and must be guided by moral principles, a clear conscience and a commitment to serving the people.

The governor stated this on Sunday while worshipping with members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries at its headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos State, where he was received by the church’s Founder and General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Muoka.

According to him, public office holders must seek God’s guidance in their decisions and have the courage to refrain from actions that contradict divine principles.

Drawing inspiration from Psalm 62:11, which states that power belongs to God, Otti reaffirmed his belief that those entrusted with leadership must exercise authority responsibly and remain accountable for their actions.

“In all we do, we seek God’s guidance. Where an action is wrong or does not align with His principles, we must have the courage to refrain from it. No ambition, political consideration or personal interest should take precedence over doing what is right,” he said.

The governor, who linked his Christian convictions to his upbringing, said the values instilled in him by his late father, Pastor Lazarus Otti, continued to shape his life, personal convictions and approach to public service.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, justice and responsible governance, noting that doing what was right was essential to maintaining peace of mind and earning the trust of the people.

Otti also said his administration remained focused on consolidating the progress recorded in Abia State since assuming office in 2023, improving the living conditions of residents and building a state of which every Abian could be proud.

The governor explained that his visit to the church fulfilled a promise he had made to Muoka during one of the cleric’s visits to Abia State to worship with the congregation whenever he was in Lagos and the opportunity arose.

He expressed gratitude to Muoka and the entire congregation for their warm reception and prayers for him and the success of his administration.

Otti acknowledged the importance of their prayers and goodwill, expressing hope that God would continue to grant leaders the wisdom, strength and courage to do what was right in the service of the people.
