The Imo State Police Command has engaged stakeholders in the hospitality industry on the onboarding of hotels onto the National Transit E-Manifest (NTEM) platform as part of efforts to strengthen security coordination and improve the tracking of guests.
The engagement, held in Owerri, was in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, aimed at strengthening digital information management and enhancing the ability of security agencies to monitor and track criminal activities.
The meeting, themed “Enhancing Hotel Security Through Digital Guest Registration and Real-Time Information Management,” brought together senior police officers, hotel owners, managers, and security personnel from across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Bosso, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepening public-private partnerships as a strategic approach to identifying and eliminating security vulnerabilities within hospitality facilities.
He stressed the importance of effective information management and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and hotel operators in strengthening the security architecture of the state.
Participants at the meeting were introduced to the operational processes, security benefits, and technical features of the digital platform through practical demonstrations on the onboarding and registration procedures.
The NTEM implementation team was represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Travi Mobile Ltd, Mr Jonah Ukoh, and the Head of Operations, Amb. Lilliane Sleek Ukoha.
During an interactive session, the Chairman of the Hoteliers Association, Chief Stanley Ohiri, led hotel managers in discussions on compliance timelines, data management, onboarding procedures, and the provision of technical support to ensure effective adoption of the platform.
The engagement provided an opportunity for hoteliers to raise questions and seek clarification on the implementation process, particularly on how the digital system would facilitate real-time access to relevant information while improving security coordination.
The Police Command reassured stakeholders of its continued collaboration with technology partners and hotel operators to ensure seamless digital integration, strengthen information-sharing mechanisms, and safeguard lives and property across Imo State.
The Command further emphasized that sustained cooperation among the police, hospitality operators, technology partners, and other relevant stakeholders would be critical to achieving a more effective and technology-driven security system in the state.
