Murder of 23-Year-Old Student: Alor Stakeholders Back Police, Demand Justice
Stakeholders from Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have pledged their full support for the ongoing Police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 23-year-old female student in her residence.
The stakeholders said their support is aimed at ensuring that justice is served and that those responsible for the crime are brought to book.
They made the pledge on Friday during a visit to the Anambra State Police Command.
The delegation from the Alor community was led by the President-General, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, alongside several Red Cap Chiefs.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the visit was in connection with the ongoing investigation into the suspected murder of the 23-year-old student at her residence in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ikenga said the visit was also intended to demonstrate the community’s support for the Police investigation and reinforce its commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
“During the engagement, the delegation provided useful information to assist investigators and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to collaborating with the Police. They also expressed their collective resolve to support all lawful efforts aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, during the interactive session, reassured the stakeholders of the Command’s commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident and ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
He also urged members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and provide credible information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner further reiterated the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, assuring the family of the deceased, the Alor community, and the general public that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that justice is served.
In his remarks, the President-General of Alor, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, commended the Police for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the case.
He expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation and pledged the continued cooperation and support of the Alor community to ensure a successful outcome.
Ojukwu also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding, refrain from spreading unverified information capable of jeopardising the investigation, and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information that could aid the investigation.
The Police Command stated that further developments on the case would be communicated to the public as the investigation progresses.
