Ogbaru Mayor Akwuobi Rebuilds Secretariat Burnt by Hoodlums

By Polycarp Ifeanyi

The promised administrative building for Ogbaru Local Government Area Secretariat is fast taking shape, months after Executive Mayor Hon. Sir Kenneth Akwuobi, Okwuluora, vowed to rebuild it.

On the day he was sworn in last year, Mayor Akwuobi promised the people of Ogbaru Local Government Area quality, transparent, and efficient representation. Today, work at the Secretariat reflects that pledge.

Before his tenure as Deputy Mayor, Acting Mayor, and now Executive Mayor, the Secretariat’s main administrative block was burnt down by unknown hoodlums. The attack left the premises deserted and in ruins.

After returning from a trip to Kigali, Rwanda, with Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo, Sir Akwuobi vowed to rebuild the biggest administrative building in the Secretariat.

On December 27, 2025, he demolished the old, dilapidated one-storey structure and began foundation work immediately.

Many doubted the project. Some called it a political game. But the Mayor insisted it would be delivered for the good of Ndi Ogbaru and to bring the Secretariat up to standard with others in the state.

At the start of foundation work for the new two-storey building, Sir Akwuobi pledged to complete it within seven to eight months.

Today, the massive transformation is evident. The new structure, already roofed and nearing completion, stands as proof of committed leadership.

“The true essence of committed leadership by Hon. Sir Kenneth Akwuobi is now visible to all,” observers noted.

The Mayor also plans to landscape and beautify the Secretariat environment as part of the overall upgrade.
