2027: Ekwunife Challenges Voters to Judge Her by Achievements, Not Sentiments

“Enugwu-Ukwu leaders cite roads, market stalls, erosion control, business grants, employment opportunities”

Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, has challenged voters to assess her political ambition on the basis of her achievements, verifiable projects and record of public service rather than political sentiments, party affiliations or personal considerations.

Ekwunife made the challenge during an engagement with the people of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, where community leaders and residents acknowledged her interventions in infrastructure development, economic empowerment and employment generation.

Addressing the gathering, the senator urged the electorate to make informed political choices by examining what candidates had actually delivered to their communities rather than relying on sentiments and political loyalty.

“Vote me on account of my achievements, not sentiments,” she declared.

She challenged the people to critically examine the contributions of political officeholders and aspirants, particularly their capacity to attract development, address community needs and deliver measurable results.

The senator also canvassed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing infrastructure development, efforts to stabilise the foreign exchange market and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), among other initiatives, as areas through which the administration should be assessed.

Using a pointed political analogy, Ekwunife cautioned against abandoning one’s own goods in the store to promote another person’s products, urging voters to reflect on the implications of their political choices.

She, however, acknowledged the constitutional right of every Nigerian to support and campaign for candidates of their choice, including aspirants within the same political party, stressing that political decisions should be guided by individual convictions and an objective assessment of performance.

Making a case for her return to the Senate, Ekwunife cited her legislative experience, national political connections, ranking status, credibility and APC platform as important assets that would strengthen her capacity to provide effective representation and attract development to Anambra Central.

She urged the people of Enugwu-Ukwu to look beyond political sentiments and interrogate the records of those seeking their votes, particularly by asking who had tangible projects, verifiable achievements and measurable interventions to show for their engagement with the community.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, a community leader, Mr Valentine Chinwuba, highlighted several interventions attributed to the senator, including the construction of market stalls and three access roads, two erosion-control projects, business grants to more than 50 beneficiaries and employment opportunities for graduates.

Chinwuba said the projects and empowerment initiatives had made visible contributions to the community, adding that Ekwunife’s record of engagement in Enugwu-Ukwu and across Umunri deserved consideration as the people prepare for the 2027 elections.

He maintained that an objective assessment of political leadership should be based on concrete achievements and the extent to which elected representatives had responded to the needs and aspirations of their constituents.

The engagement provided an opportunity for community members to acknowledge the senator’s interventions and interact with her on the importance of development-driven representation.
Ekwunife reiterated her call for issue-based politics, urging voters to place emphasis on performance, accountability and demonstrable results as they prepare to elect representatives in 2027.
