Mrs Nonye Soludo
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) will confer an honorary Doctorate of Public Health and Nutrition (Honoris Causa) on Anambra State’s First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, at a ceremony scheduled for Saturday. This significant honour recognizes her efforts in advancing public health and promoting a wellness culture throughout the state.
The founder of healthy living initiatives in Anambra, Dr. Soludo has transformed vegetable gardens into interactive classrooms and made fitness a fashionable lifestyle choice.
Her innovative approach to health advocacy has revolutionized community engagement and education on nutrition and wellness.
Notably, this honorary doctorate is the first ever awarded by the university specifically for contributions to public health and nutritional advocacy since its establishment 25 years ago.

It acknowledged a grassroots movement that has impacted over 325 schools and more than 200,000 households, directly benefiting thousands of Anambra youths.
Her work exemplifies how small, consistent habits can influence statewide health policy.
“Weekend Walkout Sessions,” Dr. Soludo’s Healthy Living crusade has fundamentally reshaped Anambra’s approach to wellness. Even the university’s silver jubilee celebrations incorporated health walks, symbolically honouring her conviction that “healthy people build a prosperous homeland.”
As the convocation and silver jubilee events unfold tomorrow at COOU, the spotlight will shine not only on academic achievement but also on a transformative public health journey one garden, one child, and one community at a time.
This honorary doctorate transcends individual recognition; it is a clarion call to all Anambra residents that health is their most valuable asset.
