According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the State Police Command has continued to witness notable professional advancement and improved morale among its personnel in the new year 2026.
He stated that the development followed the formal decoration of nine recently promoted officers by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.
The decoration ceremony took place on Friday at the Police Command Headquarters in Awka during the First Commissioner of Police Conference for Strategic Officers.
SP Tochukwu noted that the event served as both a recognition of outstanding service and a platform to reinforce professionalism within the Command.
During the conference, CP Orutugu commended officers and men of the Command for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication during the 2025 yuletide security operations, which he described as successful and commendable.
The Commissioner of Police further charged officers and men of the Command to remain proactive, responsive, and courageous in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasized strict adherence to the provisions of the Nigeria Police Act and warned against any form of corruption or unprofessional conduct while on duty.
The decoration ceremony, held alongside the Strategic Officers’ Conference, followed the approval and release of promotion results by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
CP Orutugu congratulated the promoted officers on their well-deserved advancement, describing the promotions as recognition of their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary service to the Force. He stressed that promotion comes with increased responsibilities, accountability, leadership expectations, and a higher standard of discipline and integrity.
The officers promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) include SP Adedeji Anietie, SP Andrew Gabriel, SP Emmanuel Nnaemeka, SP Adeyemi Lateef, and five others.
The Commissioner of Police also reiterated the Inspector-General of Police’s directives regarding the withdrawal of personnel attached to VIPs as well as the suspension of the enforcement of tinted glass regulations until further notice.
