World Malaria Day: Nigerians Urged to Join Anti-Malaria Fight

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo, has urged all stakeholders to intensify efforts in the fight against malaria.

In a statement she personally signed to commemorate World Malaria Day, observed globally today, the governor’s wife emphasized the need for collective action.

“Today, on World Malaria Day, we are reminded that the fight against malaria is a shared responsibility, one that calls for awareness, action, and collective commitment,” she said.

According to her, malaria remains a major public health challenge, particularly for children and pregnant women.

Dr Nonye Soludo, who is the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative with Nonye Soludo, described malaria as both preventable and treatable if the right steps are taken.

“You can prevent malaria by adopting simple but effective measures such as using insecticide-treated nets, keeping our environment clean, and seeking prompt medical care. By doing so, we can save lives and protect our communities,” the First Lady stated.

She further noted that in Anambra State, the Solution Administration remains committed to taking the lead in supporting initiatives that promote healthier living and reduce the burden of malaria.

“Together, we can build a future where no family loses a loved one to a disease we have the power to prevent. Let us all play our part. A malaria-free society is possible. Now we can. Now we must,” she added.
