APGA 2027: Primus Odili Signals Strong Bid for Anambra North Senate Seat

Chief Primus Odili

Chief Primus Odili, a frontline aspirant for the Anambra North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has expressed confidence in clinching the party’s ticket for the seat.

Speaking with journalists in Awka on Wednesday, Odili said he has remained a loyal, committed, and consistent member of APGA over the years.

“I am hopeful of securing the APGA ticket for Anambra North,” “Most of those contesting for the ticket are not genuine party members. I see myself as the most grounded within the party. This is an internal matter, and I believe the party will consider the most suitable candidate — someone who is a committed party loyalist, consistent, and of integrity.”

“The ticket cannot be handed to someone who just defected to APGA, or to someone who has been in the party for only six months. Some of these aspirants are not true APGA members; they are in the party only because the Governor gave them appointments. They did not join APGA out of conviction, and we cannot entrust our ticket to such people.”he said.

Odili alleged that some aspirants took part in the PDP and APC conventions last year but are now in APGA making unsubstantiated claims of political capacity.

“Some even say they are joining because they have capacity and that no one else does. If they truly have capacity, let them demonstrate it by staying in their  parties and building them, rather than jumping from one party to another. How can someone with capacity seek to hijack another party’s structure? Is that what capacity means?” he asked.

He disclosed that although he did not secure the senatorial ticket in the last election cycle, he remained in APGA and continued funding the party in Anambra West.

“I defeated those now claiming capacity in their wards during last year’s governorship election, and today they are laying claim to what they do not have,” he said.

Responding to reports that a member of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “kitchen cabinet” had been drafted into the Anambra North senatorial contest, Odili dismissed the claim as false and unfounded.

He maintained that all aspirants declared their interests voluntarily and that no one was personally drafted by anyone.

He added that the governor has repeatedly stated he has no preferred candidate in the race, and there is no reason to doubt that position.

Odili stressed that he has remained steadfast in APGA and has made significant contributions to the party’s growth in Anambra North and across the state, particularly during his tenure as Chief of Staff to former Governor Willie Obiano.

The senatorial hopeful concluded that only a candidate with broad grassroots appeal and widespread acceptance can deliver the Anambra North seat for APGA in the 2027 elections.
