APGA Stirs Panic with Fresh Screening Directive in Anambra
There is growing tension and panic among aspirants seeking the State and National Assembly tickets of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) following the party’s directive that only aspirants with original copies of their credentials would be admitted into the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja for the screening exercise.
At the moment, aspirants likely to be affected by the directive are said to be making frantic efforts to persuade the party leadership to reconsider its position on the matter.
However, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, told reporters in Awka, the Anambra State capital, that there would be no reversal of the decision.
According to him, the party is determined to ensure transparency, credibility, and strict compliance with its screening guidelines.
“He who must go to equity must come with clean hands,” Opara stated.
In a statement signed by Ejimofor, the party said:“This is to inform all APGA aspirants scheduled for the 2026 Screening Exercise that no aspirant shall be screened without the following documents:”
“Original certificate of highest academic qualification , for physical sighting.”
“Original Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) for verification of membership and eligibility.”
The party further warned that affidavits or photocopies would not be accepted as substitutes for the required documents.
“Note that photocopies or affidavits will not be accepted in place of originals.”
“Any aspirant who fails to present both documents will not be admitted into the screening hall.”
“Screening remains free of charge. Do not pay anyone under any guise.”
“Please comply strictly to avoid disqualification at the gate,” the statement added.
