Tinubu’s Visit Bursts APGA, Soludo’s Anambra Election Hype

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The flagship political support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Ikemba Front, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to Anambra has deflated what it described as the misplaced and overblown false hope of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), regarding the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election.

In a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the state capital, the group expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for using his visit to identify with the APC in Anambra State. According to the group, the visit sent a strong message to Soludo and APGA that the President remains a loyal party man.

In a letter titled “Your Visit Has Made Us (APC Anambra State Chapter) Stronger”, jointly signed by the National Coordinator, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, and the National Secretary, Comrade Ikechukwu Ikeobi, and addressed to the national leader of the APC, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the group emphasized that the President’s one-day working visit turned out to be a major boost for the APC in Anambra and an anticlimax for APGA and its governorship candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. According to the group, APGA had hoped to leverage the visit to gain a political endorsement for Soludo.

The group further claimed that following the visit, APGA and Governor Soludo have experienced a decline in popularity and have become less confident and assertive.

Ikemba Front remarked that Soludo’s camp has been “reduced to a trounced dog running with its tail between its legs” due to the President’s firm refusal to endorse Soludo, despite appeals from prominent figures such as Chief Emeka Anyaoku and Sir Emeka Offor. The group described the request for endorsement—which they allege was the hidden motive behind the invitation for the President’s visit—as “dead on arrival.”

“The one-day working visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Anambra State turned out to be an anticlimax for members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and its governorship candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo,” the group said. “They were roundly disappointed, and their assumptions were reset upon realizing that the President is a loyal party man who wants his own party to win in Anambra.”

The group also pointed to the large turnout of APC supporters who welcomed the President at the Chinua Achebe Airport, along the major roads, and at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, as evidence of the APC’s growing strength in Anambra State—contrary to what they described as the “misleading impression” previously propagated by a “politically drowning” Prof. Soludo that the APC lacked presence in the state.

They commended the tireless efforts of the APC Anambra State Chairman, Sir Basil Ejidike, and praised the energized leadership of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, for invigorating the party’s grassroots and internal structure.

Ikemba Front also noted that there was no project commissioned during the visit, adding pointedly: “Uncompleted Fun City and the Government House could not have been the reason for pulling Mr. President to Anambra State.”

The group recalled that President Tinubu was in Anambra just two weeks ago and, impressed with the APC’s performance in the state, subsequently invited the state leadership to Abuja. There, the President reportedly expressed his determination not to settle for merely 25% of the votes in Anambra when a full victory was within reach.

The group concluded by affirming that President Tinubu had assured the party that he wants the APC to win the Anambra governorship election slated for November 8, 2025.
