I’ll Reignite Anambra Spirit of ‘I Can Do It’ If Elected Governor,” Says Paul Chukwuma
Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the upcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8, has reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the entrepreneurial and resilient spirit that defines the people of Anambra State.
In a statement released by the Paul Chukwuma SPC Media Office on Saturday and made available to journalists in Awka, the state capital, Chukwuma stated that the core identity of Ndi Anambra lies in their unwavering “can-do” attitude,an enduring belief in self-reliance, innovation, and excellence.
“The Anambra spirit is defined by its refusal to settle for mediocrity. It is a relentless pursuit of excellence. We don’t just aspire to be average; we aim to be the best in everything we do,” Chukwuma said.
He referenced the post-civil war resurgence of Nnewi as a powerful example of this spirit, noting that despite the destruction, the people of Nnewi chose not only to rebuild their lives elsewhere but instead invested in their homeland establishing thriving markets and industries against conventional wisdom at the time.
History, he said, has vindicated their decision.
“This same spirit has placed Anambra at the forefront of human capital development and entrepreneurial success in Nigeria. Our people are building roads, schools, and hospitals often without government support. This grassroots innovation demands a government that is visionary, responsive, and equally driven.”he added.
Chukwuma cited his own example of community development as a testament to his leadership ethos saying that over five years ago, he began constructing roads in his native Nneye community in Umueri, Anambra East not for political gain, but to demonstrate proactive leadership and the value of solving problems before complaining about them.
In contrast, Chukwuma criticized the Soludo-led administration for what he described as underwhelming performance despite having considerable resources at its disposal.
“After three years in office, the Soludo government can only point to a handful of poorly executed road projects as its major achievement. This is unacceptable. Anambra deserves better. We can’t allow our future to be dictated by inertia and empty pageantry.”he stated.
He called for a paradigm shift in development metrics, arguing that economic viability not mere road construction—must be the priority.
Chukwuma stressed that too many young Anambra talents are migrating to western Nigeria in search of opportunities that their home state should be able to provide.
“We cannot continue exporting our brightest minds while our government amuses itself with amusement parks. This must stop.”he added.
Chukwuma outlined his vision for an economically transformed Anambra one driven by energy reform, manufacturing clusters, and private-sector innovation. He recalled his visit to Geometric Power in Aba earlier in 2024, not for media optics but to study the feasibility of replicating its private-sector-led energy model in Anambra.
“What Anambra needs is big business industries that retain jobs, create wealth, and grow our internally generated revenue. We must end the era of revenue-by-extortion and the Agbero system that harasses citizens under the current administration’s watch.”he said.
He accused the Soludo administration of being overwhelmed by the demands of governance and retreating into mediocrity, unable to match the spirit and drive of its citizens.
“The current government has lost touch with the Anambra spirit. It is time for a new kind of leadership—bold, youthful, ambitious, and effective. It is time for someone who leads by action, not rhetoric.”he stated.
Chukwuma also said that he is positioning himself as the embodiment of this leadership vision, urging Ndi Anambra to vote YPP on November 8 for a government that reflects their values and aspirations.
“Paul Chukwuma is not a politician of words; he is a man of action, excellence, and tangible results. Let’s reclaim the Anambra spirit. Let’s vote YPP and make this change possible.”he added.
