Anambra Strengthens Commitment to MSMEs, Promises Greater Support for Enterprise Development
By Ndife David, Awka.
The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, declaring that sustained support for entrepreneurship remains central to its economic development agenda as the world commemorates the 2026 World MSMEs Day.
In a special message released from his office to mark the global observance on June 27, the State Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu, described MSMEs as the backbone of the economy, acknowledging their resilience, innovation and enterprise in creating jobs, strengthening livelihoods and driving sustainable, inclusive growth.
Speaking on the 2026 theme, “The Future Generation of MSMEs,” Mr. Ebonwu said the annual celebration offers a timely opportunity to reinforce support for entrepreneurs through policies and programmes that equip them with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to build resilient, innovative and globally competitive businesses.
He noted that the Solution Government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has sustained strategic interventions aimed at deepening enterprise development through capacity building, business-friendly reforms, improved market access, strategic partnerships and initiatives designed to strengthen Anambra’s MSME ecosystem.
According to the commissioner, while access to finance remains a critical factor for business expansion, long-term success also depends on sound corporate structures, continuous capacity development and timely access to information that enables entrepreneurs to seize emerging opportunities and remain competitive.
He urged entrepreneurs, business owners and aspiring investors across the state to take full advantage of the various opportunities and support initiatives provided by the Anambra State Government to build sustainable enterprises, create employment and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic transformation.
Ebonwu further reaffirmed the government’s resolve to pursue policies that promote entrepreneurship, attract investment and strengthen the MSME sector, expressing confidence that the state’s sustained reforms will further consolidate Anambra’s position as Nigeria’s leading destination for commerce, innovation and industrial development.
