As the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election draws near, the Umueri community in Anambra East Local Government Area has publicly endorsed the candidacy of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, declaring their unwavering support for his re-election bid under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

In a grand reception held in honour of the governor at Ama-Umueri on Thursday, residents from all three political wards in the community turned out en masse to express solidarity with Soludo and his running mate, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim. The event served as a formal declaration that Umueri stands firmly with APGA and recognizes no other candidate in the upcoming election.

Speaking at the occasion, the President-General of the Umueri General Assembly, Amb. Dr. John Metchie said that the community’s support for Governor Soludo stems from his demonstrable commitment to the development of Umueri.

He highlighted the planned construction of the Ifite-Umueri–Chinua Achebe Airport Road as a significant gesture of the governor’s responsiveness to their needs.

“Umueri is 100% behind Governor Soludo,” “We will deliver our votes massively because he has shown us love and fulfilled his promises.”Metchie declared.

Echoing Metchie’s sentiments, the Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze himself an indigene of Umueri—praised the governor’s interventions in the area, notably the revitalization of Umueri General Hospital and the construction of roads in previously neglected areas.

“Infrastructure has reached places that hadn’t seen development since the days of Adam and Eve,” “Governor Soludo’s second term is not just a possibility—it is a certainty. The reward for good work is more work, and the people of Umueri are ready to renew his mandate.”Chinweze said.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Patricia Igwebuike, a native of Umueri, described the reception as the community’s way of appreciating Soludo’s administration for its far-reaching impact across the state. She emphasized that Soludo has earned the people’s trust and votes through his policies and performance.

“We are not confused. We only know one candidate—Soludo. He has done the work, and now it’s time for us to give him our votes,” she said.

She passed a formal vote of confidence on behalf of the community to Soludo.

In a show of broader regional support, the President-General of the Umuoba-Anam community, Barr. A.A. Anizor, stated unequivocally that APGA remains the sole political party recognized in Umuoba-Anam. He assured the governor that his re-election is already a foregone conclusion in their area.

“Governor Soludo will win meritoriously and overwhelmingly in Umuoba-Anam,” Anizor declared.

Adding royal endorsement to the occasion, His Royal Highness Igwe Sir Bennett Izuchukwu Emeka (Okebo II), traditional ruler of Umueri, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s commitment to infrastructure in the community, particularly the proposed construction of the strategic Ifite-Umueri–Chinua Achebe Airport Road.

Responding to the outpouring of support, Governor Soludo thanked the people of Umueri for what he described as a humbling and memorable welcome. He reiterated that APGA remains the only viable political platform in Anambra State and emphasized that his administration is focused on delivering lasting, people-centered development.

The governor acknowledged the infrastructural challenges facing Umueri, particularly the lack of direct access to the Chinua Achebe International Airport despite its location within the community. He assured the people that the Ifite-Umueri–Chinua Achebe Airport Road would be prioritized.

“A government delegation will visit the site to scope and cost the project. Construction will commence immediately,” Soludo stated .

With endorsements mounting across the state and communities like Umueri showing resolute support, the November 8 election is shaping up to be a strong referendum on Governor Soludo’s first term in office.
