Igala Community in Anambra Warns Against Fake Cultural Festival Scheduled for September

Onu of Igala community in Anambra State, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ali

The Igala community in Anambra State has issued a strong warning against a purported cultural festival allegedly being organized by unidentified individuals, describing the event as illegitimate and misleading.

In a statement released on Friday by the Onu of the Igala community in Anambra State, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ali, the community dissociated itself from the planned event, which is being promoted for September.

He stated that the official Igala Day celebration is scheduled to hold in October, and the specific date will be announced in due course.

“The attention of the Igala community in Anambra State has been drawn to preparations by some faceless individuals claiming to represent our community in organizing a cultural festival.“We categorically state that we are not involved in this event and advise all sons and daughters of the Igala nation in Anambra State to distance themselves from it.”he stated.

The Onu further clarified that the only legitimate authority responsible for organizing such events is his office, and any festival not sanctioned through proper community structures should be treated with suspicion.

“We also wish to inform the Anambra State Government and the general public that our officially recognized Igala festival will hold in October, and details will be made public soon,” the statement added.

The Igala leadership called on the general public to disregard the September event and warned that those behind the scheme do not represent the interests or values of the Igala people in Anambra.

“We urge everyone to disregard the so-called September celebration. The Onu of the Igala community remains the only authorized figure to convene and coordinate cultural events on behalf of our people,” the statement added.
