Anambra Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Boys in Edo,Delta After Nine Months

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped boys, whose parents reside in Ilorin, Kwara State, following credible intelligence and a nationwide investigation in Edo and Delta States.
The victims, Sunday Aliya (14 years old) and Ebenezer Emmanuel (12 years old), were found in Delta and Edo States, respectively, after an extensive nine-month investigation led by operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Gender Section ,Anambra State Police.
According to a statement by the command spokesman, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the case was initially reported at Fegge Police Station on January 18, 2025. The guardian of the victims had reported that the two boys had been sent to fetch water from a nearby borehole but never returned home.
Following the initial investigation, the case was transferred to the SCID in Awka for further action.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives arrested a suspect named Yusuf in Katsina State. During interrogation, Yusuf provided valuable information that led the police to Umunede, Delta State, where Sunday Aliya was rescued. Subsequent investigation resulted in the recovery of the second victim, Ebenezer Emmanuel, in Benin City, Edo State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their perseverance and professionalism. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to pursuing every lead in any case, regardless of the time it takes, to ensure justice is served.
CP Orutugu also expressed gratitude to residents whose cooperation and information were instrumental to the success of the operation.
He urged the public to continue supporting the police with relevant information to improve law enforcement outcomes.
The Command has contacted the parents of the rescued children, who live in Ilorin, Kwara State, and arrangements are underway for their formal reunification.
