Nigeria Super Eagles
The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, has praised the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their spirited victory over the Pharaohs of Egypt to secure the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Following a gruelling semi-final encounter, the Super Eagles demonstrated remarkable resilience, faith, and character, regrouping impressively to dominate the third-place playoff against the Pharaohs of Egypt. Their performance reflected a team that had learned from adversity and responded with maturity and purpose.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the NOC, Tony Nezianya, the victory was described as a clear testament to the remarkable evolution of the squad under the leadership of Head Coach Eric Chelle.
According to the statement, the Super Eagles have undergone a complete transformation within the space of just one year.
Once criticised for being goal-shy, the team has overcome its scoring challenges to emerge as a clinical and formidable attacking force.
This renewed efficiency in front of goal has been matched by tactical discipline and collective responsibility.
Coach Chelle has successfully rebuilt the team into a disciplined, confident, and respectable side that commands authority and respect on the pitch.
The players now exhibit cohesion, tactical awareness, and a strong winning mentality that reflects the coach’s philosophy and vision.
The Super Eagles have once again become a source of national pride, rekindling the famous “never-say-die” Nigerian spirit, even in the face of elite continental competition. Their performance at the tournament reaffirms Nigeria’s status as a powerhouse of African football.
Commending the team’s progress, Engr. Gumel expressed optimism about the future, stating that he looks forward to the continued evolution of the Super Eagles in what he described as an exciting and promising new era for Nigerian football.
