Anambra First Daughter Relaunches NGO, Grants 10 Girls Full Scholarships
The first daughter of Anambra State, Adaora Soludo, has relaunched her non-governmental organisation, the Gloria Foundation.
Adaora Soludo, the daughter of Governor Charles Soludo, announced the relaunch during a ceremony where scholarships were awarded to ten underprivileged female university students.
The Gloria Foundation was originally launched in 2018 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women to become agents and leaders of positive change in society.
The NGO was established in memory of the late Mrs Gloria Uzomaka Ezenwanne, a renowned educator, disciplinarian, and social crusader.
The scholarship programme is a key component of the foundation’s Education Support Scheme, which provides full tuition support to students from low-income households.
In her address to the beneficiaries, Adaora Soludo explained that the initiative serves as a reminder that every young girl deserves to be seen, heard, supported, and encouraged.
She added that her personal life experiences had taught her that, sometimes, all a young person needs is a little support, encouragement, and someone who believes in their potential.
According to her, one of the core reasons the Gloria Foundation exists is to create hope, inspire confidence, and support young people , especially girls in pursuing education and becoming the best versions of themselves.
The governor’s daughter further noted that the scholarship support symbolises hope and encouragement, while the sanitary pads distributed to the students serve as a reminder that no girl should feel less confident because of a natural part of womanhood.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Oluchi Okeke, a 100-level undergraduate in the Department of Economics; Grace Okonkwo, a 300-level Law student; and Amarachi Ezeukwu, a 200-level Physiology undergraduate, said the scholarship would significantly boost their academic pursuits and strengthen their hopes for the future.
They also expressed appreciation to the Gloria Foundation for its practical and impactful support toward the education and welfare of young women.
