DNA 2027 Seat: Dunukofia Seeks Fair Turn to them

The Dunukofia stakeholders have called on political stakeholders in Anaocha and Njikoka Local Government Areas to support the zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives seat for the Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency to Dunukofia Local Government their Area.
In an open appeal addressed to traditional rulers, town union leaders, and political stakeholders across the three council areas, they anchored their demand on the principles of equity, justice, brotherhood, inclusion, and fairness among the constituent communities.
The DNA Federal Constituency, comprising Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Anaocha Local Government Areas has historically functioned as a unified political bloc since its creation. The Stakeholders noted that the area was once part of a common administrative and cultural entity before subsequent boundary adjustments altered its structure.
According to them, the constituency has sustained a long-standing tradition of rotational representation in the National Assembly, with the seat alternating between Anaocha and Njikoka over the years.
However, the Dunukofia National Congress argued that despite the existing rotation arrangement, Dunukofia remains the only local government area within the constituency yet to produce a representative in the House of Representatives since the current constituency structure was established.
Describing the federal seat as a “shared political microphone,” the group emphasized that the position represents not only political authority but also the collective voice and aspirations of the DNA people at the national level. It maintained that fairness and political balance demand a deliberate effort to ensure that all three local government areas participate equitably in the representation cycle.
While acknowledging the contributions and periods of representation previously enjoyed by Anaocha and Njikoka, the Stakeholders stressed that their appeal was not motivated by rivalry or political confrontation, but by the need to strengthen unity, inclusion, and mutual trust within the constituency.
“We come before you not with entitlement, but with a humble plea for justice, fairness, and equity,” the statement read in part, urging stakeholders to “support the zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives seat to Dunukofia and allow the area produce the next representative through a transparent internal contest among its aspirants.”
They further argued that zoning the seat to Dunukofia in 2027 would deepen political trust among the constituent communities and reinforce the spirit of brotherhood, coexistence, and collective identity that has historically defined relations within the constituency.
They called on traditional rulers, presidents-general of town unions, political office holders, party leaders, and other influential stakeholders across the three local government areas to view the demand as a moral and political imperative necessary for sustaining unity, fairness, and long-term stability within the DNA Federal Constituency.
The appeal was copied to key political stakeholders and community leaders across Anaocha and Njikoka, as well as leadership structures within the wider DNA political bloc.
