The First Lady of Ebonyi State, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has urged children in the state to be bold in reporting all forms of abuse, intimidation, harassment, and violence against them.

She gave the charge during the 2026 Children’s Day celebration held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.
The event held under the theme “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child.”

Mrs. Nwifuru assured that any child who speaks out would be reached, helped, and protected under her pet programme.

Addressing the children, she said creating a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive, regardless of social status, gender, disability, or background, remains a top priority on her agenda for the state.

“Children are not just passive recipients of tomorrow’s leadership; they are already active contributors to the present,”
“Their voices, dreams, and experiences matter and must be reflected in the decisions we make as leaders, parents, and citizens. That is what my agenda reflects.”she said.

She urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to pay greater attention to the upbringing of children through love, discipline, and proper guidance.

Mrs. Nwifuru also reaffirmed the commitment of the BERWO Foundation to improving the welfare of children through programmes targeting education, healthcare, nutrition, and protection for vulnerable groups.

“Our interventions focus on supporting vulnerable children, providing access to healthcare and education, and advocating strongly against child abuse, neglect, trafficking, and all forms of violence against children. We are committed to ensuring that no child is left behind,” she stated.
