Nonye Soludo, ANSACA Unite Against HIV as Anambra Records High Prevalence Rate

The Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative has expressed its commitment to partnering with the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) to strengthen HIV awareness, prevention, and control efforts across Anambra State.

Earlier on Wednesday, the founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, received a delegation from the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), led by its Executive Director, Dr. Nkem Okeke, on a strategic advocacy visit aimed at enhancing collaborative efforts toward HIV prevention, treatment, care, and control in the state.
According to a statement published on Dr. Nonye Soludo’s Facebook page, discussions centred on establishing a strong partnership between ANSACA and the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative to deepen public awareness, promote regular HIV testing and early diagnosis, combat stigma and discrimination, improve access to accurate health information, and encourage healthy lifestyle choices among residents of the state.
Speaking on the importance of the collaboration, Dr. Nonye Soludo noted that the HIV burden in Anambra requires deliberate, coordinated, and sustained interventions involving government agencies, development partners, healthcare providers, community leaders, and citizens.
“The reality before us calls for deliberate and strategic action. While significant progress has been made over the years in HIV prevention and treatment, Anambra currently records one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in Nigeria. This underscores the urgent need for sustained public awareness campaigns, community engagement, expanded access to testing and treatment services, and collective responsibility in addressing the challenge.
“As a passionate advocate of healthy living and preventive healthcare, I remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower our citizens with the right information, encourage positive health-seeking behaviours, and provide access to essential healthcare services. Together with ANSACA and other stakeholders, we will continue to champion interventions that protect lives, strengthen families, reduce new infections, and build a healthier Anambra.
“The fight against HIV is not the responsibility of government alone. Through collaboration, education, compassion, and sustained community action, we can reduce the rate of new infections, eliminate stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV, promote early testing and treatment, and create a future where every resident of Anambra can live a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Together, we can make a difference,” the statement read.
