Uzodimma Accelerates Urban Renewal with Major Owerri Road Expansion

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has stated that one of the key objectives of his administration’s Urban Renewal Project is not only to beautify the state capital, Owerri, but also to decongest traffic along major roads.
The governor made this known in a statement posted on his X handle, @Hope_Uzodimma, where he explained that the Urban Renewal Project is designed to facilitate the seamless flow of commercial activities while improving the quality of life for residents of the state.
According to him, the vision has continued to guide his administration’s commitment to building a modern, accessible, and economically vibrant capital city capable of meeting the growing needs of the people.
He said: “We have remained steadfast in delivering on this objective, and I am delighted to see Lake Nwaebere Road taking on a new shape and look as we embark on the reconstruction of this critical artery, which will significantly decongest traffic exiting Owerri metropolis.
“With a contractor that has consistently delivered quality infrastructure across the state, the road is being reconstructed with an expanded carriageway and a dual drainage system designed to efficiently accommodate increased vehicular movement while ensuring durability, improved safety, and long-term value for our people.”he said.
The governor noted that the reconstruction of Lake Nwaebere Road forms part of his administration’s broader urban renewal agenda aimed at improving road infrastructure, easing traffic congestion, enhancing connectivity, and stimulating economic activities within Owerri and its surrounding areas.
