Anambra Police Nab Last Suspected Member of Pincode Gang
The Anambra State Police Command operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday arrested 25-year-old Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was the last identified member of the notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly led by a suspected criminal known as “Pincode.”
He was arrested in connection with a 2023 kidnapping incident that resulted in the death of the victim.
The statement said that, at the conclusion of the investigative proceedings, the Command would hand over Olisa Oyelu to the Correctional Centre, where Pincode and four others are already being remanded pending the judgment of the court.
According to the statement, the arrest followed sustained intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation by police operatives.
It added that the suspect was alleged to have been an active member of the gang involved in the kidnapping operation.
The statement said that following the incident, the Police commenced an extensive investigation aimed at identifying, arresting and prosecuting all persons connected with the crime.
It said the Command noted that the arrest represented a significant development in the ongoing investigation and reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all persons found to have participated in the crime were brought to justice.
It added that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led approach to the investigation.
According to the statement, the CP assured Ndi Anambra that the Command would continue to pursue criminal elements within and outside the State until they were brought before the law.
“The Commissioner further urged members of the public to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information, noting that security remains a shared responsibility,” he said.
