Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, National President of Igbo Youths for Positive Change in Nigeria, has renewed allegations made by Bonaventure Mokwe against the administration of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi over the alleged planting of a human skull and an AK-47 rifle in Mokwe’s hotel, an incident reportedly followed by the demolition of the property.
Obigwe, in a statement drawing attention to a video in which Mokwe recounted his experience, alleged that the incident was connected to Mokwe’s dispute with the state government over a motor park during Obi’s tenure.
According to Obigwe, the controversy led to the demolition of the hotel, which he said was built in 1974 by Mokwe’s late father.
He further alleged that Mokwe narrowly escaped death while in the custody of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), claiming that human rights lawyers intervened to secure his release.
Obigwe also stated that Mokwe subsequently instituted legal proceedings against the Anambra State Government and was awarded damages in connection with the incident.
Citing the allegations and the reported court award, the APGA chieftain questioned Obi’s public image and called for renewed scrutiny of the claims surrounding the hotel demolition controversy.
He urged Nigerians to examine the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the incident before drawing conclusions, stressing the importance of evaluating political leaders based on their records and conduct in public office.
Obigwe also compared Obi with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
He called on Nigerians to assess both leaders’ records and political positions before deciding whom to support.
The allegations and claims concerning the hotel demolition remain matters that should be assessed against the available documentary evidence and relevant court records.
