The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to help reunite a 10-year-old boy, Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, with his family after he lost his way home while playing in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the boy was rescued by operatives of the Okpoko Police Division on the afternoon of November 1, 2026, after a concerned resident found him wandering and brought him to the police station for assistance.

Preliminary interaction with the child revealed that he had left home to play but was subsequently unable to find his way back or locate his family members. He also disclosed that he hails from Ebenebe, Anambra State.

The police said efforts had commenced to establish contact with the boy’s parents or guardians and facilitate his safe reunion with his family.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the Good Samaritan for his prompt intervention and responsible conduct, describing such assistance as crucial to protecting children and other vulnerable persons.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support efforts to safeguard vulnerable individuals in their communities.

He advised parents and guardians to ensure adequate supervision of their children and take necessary precautions to make them easily identifiable and traceable in the event of separation.

The Command appealed to anyone with useful information that could help identify or locate the boy’s parents or guardians to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
