APGA Chieftain Urges Ndi Anambra to Support Soludo to Secure the State’s Future

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo

A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has urged Ndi Anambra to support the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to bring an end to the recurring Monday sit-at-home order in the state.
Obigwe said he aligns with Governor Soludo’s position that true leadership often requires taking difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions in order to secure a better future for the people.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Obigwe noted that some individuals have deliberately misinterpreted the governor’s actions and are labouring in vain to portray him in a negative light.
He stressed that such misrepresentations are unfair and misleading.
Obigwe, who is the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, explained that the one-week closure of the Onitsha Main Market was carried out in the overall interest of the traders, Ndi Anambra, and the Igbo nation at large.
Quoting an Igbo proverb, he said: “An elder does not stay at home and watch a she-goat deliver its young in chains.”
“This,” he said, “is exactly what Governor Soludo is doing—acting decisively to protect his people instead of watching helplessly.”
According to Obigwe, enemies of the state have once again resorted to their old tactics of instilling fear among traders and residents in an attempt to prevent them from coming out on Mondays.
He expressed confidence that such tactics will fail.
“They have circulated several threatening videos on social media to scare our people from going about their lawful businesses on Monday, 2nd February 2026. We must not succumb to their fear-mongering,” he said.
Obigwe maintained that Anambra State is secure, adding that those behind the threats know very well that they lack the capacity to carry out their empty threats.
“Our gallant and well-fortified security agencies are monitoring the situation closely and are fully prepared to deal decisively with any criminal elements. Ndi Anambra should ignore the scare tactics of non-state actors and heed the governor’s call to go out freely for their work and businesses on Monday without fear of harassment or molestation,” he added.
Obigwe also reacted to reports circulating on social media that a lawyer, Ikechukwu Obasi, has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the Governor of Anambra State, the Attorney-General of the State, the Commissioner of Police, and the Inspector-General of Police, demanding ₦2 billion in damages over the one-week closure of the Onitsha Main Market.
According to him, such an action amounts to indirect support for the Monday sit-at-home order, which he described as having severely strangulated the economy of Anambra State and the wider Igbo region.
He described Governor Soludo as a leader endowed with the courage and political will to do what is right and what best serves the long-term interests of the people.
“Governor Soludo’s actions and policies clearly show that he loves Anambra State deeply and is willing to go to any length to protect the interests and future of our people. No one can genuinely claim to love Ndi Anambra more than he does,” Obigwe stated.
He therefore called on Ndi Anambra to rally behind the governor in order to put a permanent end to the Monday sit-at-home and reclaim the state from non-state actors.
“Let us unite with our beloved governor to restore normalcy, revive our economy, and secure a prosperous future for Anambra State. Daalu nu,” he added.
