Call to Bar: Udegbunam Fulfills Lifelong Ambition by Making First Class in Law
By Joshua Ugwuogo
Often, self-determination combined with God’s grace leads to success, as exemplified by Enoch Joseph Udegbunam, Esq., who graduated with a First Class Upper Division in Law.
Udegbunam was among the recent 5,734 successful candidates newly inducted into the prestigious Nigerian legal profession at the Body of Benchers complex in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
However, Udegbunam’s call to the bar was not accidental; it was the result of unwavering self-determination—a testament to years of hard work and perseverance against all odds and obstacles.
Enoch Udegbunam hails from Ameke Nnachi in Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State. He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu campus.
From an early age, he was determined to study law and become a lawyer. By God’s infinite mercy, his heart’s desire has been fulfilled, as he is now duly certified as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This year, the total number of new lawyers called to the bar reached an unprecedented 5,734 the highest in the history of the Nigerian Law School.
In his remarks at the event, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, urged the newly inducted lawyers to uphold the highest standards of integrity. He warned that legal practice is a privilege that can be lost through misconduct.
Ariwoola, who also serves as Chairman of the Body of Benchers, further emphasized that the legal profession is sacred and demands discipline, honor, and selfless service.
Shortly after the event, Udegbunam expressed his joy, testifying that God had truly granted his heart’s desire. He affirmed that his success was by the grace of God.
