YPP Candidate Chukwuma Vows to Return Anambra to People, Focuses on Issues Over Attacks

Governorship candidate of Young Progressive Party Sir Paul Chukwuma

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has declared that his mission is to return Anambra State to its rightful owners, the people.

Sir Chukwuma made this statement on Monday while addressing journalists at his country home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to him, his campaign will be anchored on issues and solutions, not personal attacks or empty rhetoric.

“I am not in this race to engage in theatrics or run a campaign of insults, especially against fellow contestants,” “My focus is on articulating concrete plans for governance and explaining to Ndi Anambra how I intend to rebuild and reposition our state.”he said.

He stated that Anambra deserves leadership grounded in competence, vision, and integrity, rather than political gimmicks.

“I’m committed to running an issue-based campaign. I want to tell Ndi Anambra why I have offered myself to serve them. I will point out the systemic failures, economic, infrastructural, and social that have plagued our state, and most importantly, how I plan to fix them,” he said.

Sir Chukwuma also stressed the importance of transparency in governance and the need to clearly outline how the proposed transformative projects will be funded.

“My campaign will be about ideas. It will be about how we can deliver disruptive, positive changes and where the resources to fund those changes will come from,” he said.

On the subject of security, he described the current insecurity in Anambra as a state embarrassment that should top the agenda of any serious administration.

“The security situation in Anambra is unacceptable. With the mandate of the people, I will restore peace and order within six months of taking office. Every citizen will once again be proud to identify as Anambra-born,” he assured.

Chukwuma did not mince words in criticizing the administration of Governor Charles Soludo, accusing him of governing with impunity and training his aides to exhibit similar authoritarian tendencies.

“Governor Soludo governs with impunity, and his appointees have followed suit. But let me be clear—I will not be intimidated. I have offered myself to liberate Ndi Anambra from the shackles of this administration and to return governance to the people,” he declared.

He pledged to pursue this liberation through all democratic and legal means, emphasizing that Anambra citizens are weary of being treated as second-class citizens in their own state.

Regarding the issue of zoning, Chukwuma dismissed it as a primitive and divisive concept that has hindered the progress of the state for decades.

“Zoning is a primordial sentiment that has held Anambra back. What Ndi Anambra truly want is competent leadership and the full restoration of their state,” he said.

He vowed to revitalize local government administration, ensuring that grassroots governance functions effectively for the first time in years.

“By the special grace of God, I will return Anambra to the people. I will ensure that every local government in this state works, and works efficiently,” said.
