Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has formally announced the institutionalization of a zoning arrangement for the governorship position among the state’s three senatorial districts.

According to the Governor, this rotational formula will be upheld in future elections to ensure equity and political stability across the state.

Governor Soludo made the declaration during an endorsement rally for his re-election and a homecoming reception for Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, who recently returned to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The event took place in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Soludo stated that the governorship seat is currently held by the Southern Senatorial Zone, which he represents, following the completion of two consecutive terms by the Northern Zone. He affirmed that, upon the conclusion of his administration, the Central Senatorial Zone would assume the governorship for the next constitutionally allowed term.

“We have now officially institutionalized the zoning of the governorship among Anambra’s three senatorial zones. After the South, it will be the turn of the Central,” “This is a matter of equity, fairness, and strategic political balance to ensure that all parts of Anambra feel included in governance.”Soludo said.

Welcoming Hon. Ibezi back to APGA, Governor Soludo reiterated the party’s centrality to Anambra’s political identity.

“APGA is the political umbrella for all true progressives in Anambra. In fact, Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra,” he declared.

He noted that his administration and candidacy have evolved into a people-driven movement, with communities organizing endorsement rallies independently, without directives from the government.

“This is a grassroots revolution. Communities across the state are organizing themselves to endorse and support APGA. The party has never been more united or stronger than it is today,” he stated.

Governor Soludo expressed confidence in APGA’s chances of sweeping the polls across all 5,720 polling units and 326 political wards in the state. He addressed the persistent issue of low voter turnout in Idemili North, despite the area having the highest number of registered voters in the state.

“This paradox must end. Idemili North must rise to its electoral potential. I urge the people to come out in full force on November 8 and assert their political relevance. We are building a new Anambra, and every community must play its part,” he urged.

The Governor reassured residents of continued infrastructural and educational development across the state, including in Idemili, where his administration has commenced major projects.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, highlighted key achievements under Soludo’s leadership in the Idemili axis, such as the construction of two smart schools, recruitment of qualified teachers, and other strategic investments.

In his remarks, APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, and State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, welcomed Hon. Ibezi back into the party, describing his return as timely and politically significant ahead of the 2025 election cycle.

Other key political stakeholders at the event, including the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma; Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor; Dr. Nelson Omenugha; Mayor of Idemili North, Mr. Stanley Nkwoka; Chairperson of Idemili South, Mrs. Amaka Obi; Chief Okey Muoaro; and Chief Tony Onyima, pledged their full support for Soludo’s re-election and APGA’s continued dominance in Anambra.

A major highlight of the rally was the symbolic presentation of a ₦20 million cheque in support of Governor Soludo’s campaign — a gesture reflecting the growing momentum behind his second-term bid.
