YPP Guber Candidate Chukwuma Urges Soludo to Fix Neni Magistrate Court

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Sir Paul Chukwuma, has called out the Anambra State Government over its failure to rehabilitate the Neni Magistrate Court, describing the situation as a reflection of poor governance and disregard for essential public infrastructure.
Chukwuma, in a statement released on Sunday, reacted to a now-viral video showing the dilapidated condition of the Magistrate Court in Neni, located in Anaocha Local Government Area.
He condemned the state government’s inability or unwillingness to maintain such a vital institution, noting it as indicative of a broader neglect of critical infrastructure across Anambra State.
“The condition of the court is living proof that governance is at its lowest ebb in Anambra today,”
“A government that cannot maintain or strengthen vital physical structures, how can it be trusted to build a better system? This is a sad commentary on the lived experience of Ndi Anambra under the current administration.” Chukwuma stated.
He described the Neni Magistrate Court as a key judicial facility situated not in a remote location, but right in the heart of a semi-urban town.
“This court is not tucked away in the hinterlands—it is at the epicentre of Neni, just by the roadside. Its current state is an embarrassment, not just to the legal system but to the people of Anambra.” he stated.
Chukwuma further expressed dismay that a strategically located public facility like the Neni Magistrate Court could be left to decay, adding that the situation raises serious questions about the state of infrastructure in more rural parts of Anambra.
“If a court building in a prominent semi-urban town like Neni is left to rot, one can only imagine the neglect suffered by public infrastructure in our remote communities,” he lamented.
He urged the Anambra State Government, led by Professor Charles Soludo, to urgently address what he described as a “glaring failure of responsibility.”
According to Chukwuma, prompt intervention is needed not only to restore the building but also to ensure the safety of judicial staff and users of the court.
“The government must act swiftly to prevent further deterioration of this facility. The structural decay poses a serious risk to the lives of those who work in or rely on the court,” he said.
