Gregory University Graduates Over 400 Students at 10th Convocation Ceremony

Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, has graduated over 400 students and conferred honorary degrees on distinguished Nigerians at its 10th convocation ceremony, held last Saturday.
The ceremony took place at the Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium and marked a significant milestone, celebrating a decade of excellence in the university’s history.
It attracted eminent personalities from various sectors, including academia, traditional institutions, government, and industry, who gathered to witness the formal induction of a new generation of scholars into the academic and professional community.
A total of 410 graduands were awarded first degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees across various disciplines, reflecting the university’s growing contribution to human capital development and higher education in Nigeria.
The 10th convocation ceremony also featured the conferment of honorary degrees on notable individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to leadership, public service, entrepreneurship, and community development within Nigeria and beyond.
Among the honourees was the Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty, Eze Linus Ntoh Mbah, who was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Hospitality and Tourism Management in recognition of his commitment to cultural preservation and grassroots development.
Former Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, alongside a renowned industrialist, Mr. Okenze Sylvester Obinna, were each conferred with the honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration for their exemplary leadership and contributions to economic development.
Out of the 410 graduates produced by the university, Onyechere Chijindum Yadirichukwu of the Department of Accounting emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student, having attained an exceptional Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.91.
In his valedictory address, Yadirichukwu expressed profound gratitude to the university’s lecturers and staff for their unwavering commitment, mentorship, and academic support throughout his course of study. He also congratulated his fellow graduands, the Class of 2025, urging them to uphold the values of excellence, integrity, and service. Emphasizing the transformative power of education, he noted that “the true purpose of education is not merely personal success, but the collective responsibility to build the Nigeria we desire.”
