Christmas:Mrs Soludo Champions Love for Children in Orphanage Homes

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo, has called on members of the public to regularly visit children in orphanage homes and show them love and care.
She made the call on Monday while hosting children from 33 orphanage homes across the state at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Awka.
According to Mrs Soludo, who is the founder of the Nonye Soludo Healthy Living Initiative, it is highly imperative for people to visit children in orphanage homes and show them love, noting that many of them have no one to depend on apart from the kindness of others.
“I encourage everybody to visit these children from time to time. They don’t have anybody. Please, find time to visit them and show them fatherly, motherly love and brotherly affection. I have been visiting them, and I always want to put smiles on their faces. This is Christmas, and I need to give them a sense of belonging. I want them to feel good and loved. That is the reason I invited them here to come and have fun,” she said.

Mrs Soludo noted that she derives joy from making the children happy and ensuring they have fun.
She explained that part of the celebration was to extend the spirit of the season love to everyone, irrespective of their background in society.

The Anambra State First Lady further revealed that the state government is paying special attention to the welfare of the children, adding that all of them are currently in school under the state government’s free education programme.
“The state government is doing well in ensuring that they are raised in a responsible manner. Honestly, the government is always helping. We should all remember them, visit them, and offer one form of help or another,” she stated.
Mrs Soludo expressed gratitude to the caregivers and managers of the orphanage homes, commending them for the great work they are doing.
She urged them to always listen to the children’s complaints and promptly provide solutions.
She also advised the children, especially the females, to always open up and discuss any issues they may have with their caregivers.
“Please, open up and discuss with those managing you about anything you want. Even if it means calling me to discuss with you, I will not hesitate. I want the managers to always treat them with love and care,” Mrs Soludo added.
The wife of the Governor also took extra time to engage in one-on-one interactions with nearly all the children present, encouraging them to feel free and confident enough to speak up whenever the need arises.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, while thanking the wife of the Governor for consistently standing in the gap on issues concerning children, described her as God-sent to the state.
According to Mrs Obinabo, Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife have remained at the forefront of promoting the Child’s Rights Law, which seeks to ensure that children are protected at all times, regardless of their background.
Some of the children, including Odinakachukwu, Godwin Christian, and Chioma Precious, expressed their gratitude to the wife of the Governor for her kind gesture and for remembering them at a time when many people are celebrating without thinking of homeless and orphaned children.
They prayed for God’s continued blessings and protection upon the First Lady and her husband, Governor Soludo, in all their activities and endeavours.
Father Christmas, Panda, and their friends also presented gifts on behalf of Mrs Nonye Soludo to the children and their caregivers as they danced and made merry.
The excited children entertained guests with Christmas carols and other performances. They were also presented with Christmas gifts and school materials
