Retired Anambra Senior Police Officers Commend CP for Enhanced Security During Christmas

Some retired senior police officers from Anambra State have commended the Anambra State Police Command for the noticeable improvement in security, and the resulting increase in public confidence, particularly during the traditionally sensitive ember-month period marked by heightened travel, festivities, and social activities.

The commendation was given when the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, received retired senior police officers of Anambra origin and others at the Command Headquarters in Awka.
As part of the 2025 security and community-engagement highlights, Anambra State recorded a massive influx of returnees during the ember months. This development has been widely attributed to an improved security architecture and sustained policing efforts across the state.
In furtherance of this positive trend, the retired officers paid separate courtesy visits to the Commissioner in his office, during which they applauded the Command for the visible enhancement in security operations and the restoration of public confidence, especially during the festive season.
In his response, CP Ikioye Orutugu expressed appreciation for the visits and described the large-scale homecoming of Anambra indigenes during the ember months as a clear reflection of improved safety, effective policing strategies, and strong community cooperation. He acknowledged the immense contributions and sacrifices of the retired senior officers during their years of active service, describing them as pillars whose professionalism and dedication laid a solid foundation for contemporary policing standards.
Among the very senior retired officers who visited the Commissioner were Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Felix Osita Uyanna, mni (Rtd), former AIG in charge of the Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Usman A. Gwari, fdc (Rtd), who served in various strategic capacities, including as AIG Zone 9, Umuahia, and Commissioner of Police, Anambra State; Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu (Rtd), former Force Public Relations Officer; and other distinguished retired senior officers.
The visits ended on a cordial note, with renewed calls for mentorship, cooperation, and sustained support for the Nigeria Police Force in its ongoing efforts to maintain peace, uphold law and order, and enhance public safety across the state.
