Don’t Trade Your Future for Rice, Indomie and Metchie Warns Constituents
Chief John Metchie
RAYMOND OZOJI
The President-General of Umueri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief John Metchie, has cautioned the people of the area to beware of what he described as “Indomie politicians.”
Metchie, who spoke to journalists in Otuocha, the headquarters of Anambra East Council Area, said those he referred to as Indomie politicians are a crop of politicians who have done virtually nothing with constituency project funds meant for the people, but instead diverted and accumulated such funds to purchase Indomie noodles, bags of rice, groundnut oil, and other items used to deceive the electorate during election periods.
Metchie, who is currently aspiring to represent Anambra East and Anambra West in the House of Representatives in 2027, said there is absolutely nothing to show that the federal constituency has effective representation at the National Assembly.
He therefore emphasized the need for the people to resist the temptation of collecting bags of rice, Indomie noodles, and other inducements from politicians, so they do not mortgage their collective future for another four years.
Metchie, a grassroots politician and community development expert, said enough is enough, adding that people like him will no longer remain silent while Anambra East and Anambra West continue to suffer from what he described as abysmal representation.
He said his opinion poll revealed that the people are voraciously and fervently clamouring for a replacement in the next political dispensation, as the incumbent has failed them woefully.
The Umueri President-General further stated that his sojourn overseas has taught him that the purpose of government and political representation is for those in positions of authority to provide for the people what they cannot do for themselves, rather than divert public funds for selfish gains and ulterior motives, thereby denying the masses basic amenities and infrastructure.
Metchie, who commended Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in meeting the expectations of Ndi Anambra, said the next election would not be business as usual, as the people would no longer be deceived with bags of rice and cartons of Indomie noodles.
He insisted that Anambra East and Anambra West must elect a competent person who understands the peculiarities and fundamental needs of the areas to represent them in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, adding that he is well positioned to provide such representation.
