Technician Who Became a Pillar: Engr. Nosa Ununu’s Inspiring Journey to 50
For many people, reaching the age of fifty is not just about marking another birthday; it is a celebration of purpose, impact, and the lives touched over the years. That spirit of gratitude and admiration filled the atmosphere as family members, friends, church associates, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate Engr. Enosa Ununu on the occasion of his golden jubilee.
Beyond the music, laughter, and heartfelt tributes was the inspiring story of a man whose journey reflects resilience, faith, humility, and service to humanity.
Born in Ekpon, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, Engr. Nosa Ununu’s success story began from very humble beginnings. In 2000, he relocated to Anambra State as a pre-science student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, where he later studied Physics Electronics for five years. Raised in a modest civil servant family, he understood early in life that determination and self-reliance were necessary for survival.
Long before gaining admission into the university, he had already developed a passion for electronics. “I started by repairing rechargeable lanterns and handling technical equipment during church evangelism programs,” he recalled. “Those little experiences helped shape my future.”
Life as a student in Awka came with its own challenges. At the time, many faulty CCTV and CRT monitors in cafés and business centres were usually sent to Lagos for repairs because there were no local technicians capable of handling them.
Confident in his growing electronics knowledge, he approached some café operators and requested an opportunity to prove himself. “They gave me three faulty monitors to repair,” he said. “I was able to fix one successfully.”
That modest breakthrough became the foundation of what would later grow into a thriving career spanning more than two decades. From his tiny one-room apartment in Okpuno, he repaired monitors at night and attended lectures during the day. Gradually, his reputation spread across Awka and beyond.
What began as a means of survival eventually transformed into a successful business and a platform through which many young people found mentorship, direction, and empowerment.
As tributes flowed during the celebration, one message remained consistent: Engr. Nosa Ununu is admired not only for his professional achievements but for the countless lives he has positively influenced.
His pastor, Reverend Emmanuel Okoroafor of New Heritage Baptist Church, described him as a man of integrity whose quiet nature conceals uncommon strength and character. “Engr. Nosa is honest, hardworking, loyal, and sincere,” the cleric said. “He may appear calm and simple, but he has the heart of a lion.”
According to the reverend, the celebrant has remained faithful and dependable in the service of God, especially as a member of the church Executive Council. He added that Engr. Ununu is known for supporting others without seeking recognition.
Perhaps the most emotional moments came from testimonies shared by two of his former apprentices, Michael Williams and Umeh Benedict, both of whom credited him for changing the course of their lives.
Umeh Benedict recalled arriving in Awka as an inexperienced village boy searching for direction. Through Nostek Computers Technology, he said, Engr. Ununu not only taught him technical skills but also instilled discipline, honesty, and commitment to God.
“One thing that always amazed me was his dedication to church activities,” Umeh said. “No matter how busy he was, he always made time for God.”
He further described his mentor as a man who refused to compromise integrity for financial gain. “He was never interested in inflating contracts or cutting corners just to make money, yet God continued to bless his efforts,” he added.
Michael Williams shared a similar story of compassion and second chances. After secondary school, Williams travelled to Lagos in search of greener opportunities but struggled to succeed. Engr. Ununu later encouraged him to relocate to Awka, where he learned computer engineering under him.
Although Williams later attempted travelling abroad and lost his savings in the process, he said Engr. Ununu welcomed him back without hesitation when things fell apart. “I returned with nothing,” he recalled emotionally. “But instead of rejecting me, he gave me another opportunity to rebuild my life.”
Today, Williams attributes his stability, career, and family success to that uncommon act of kindness.
Beyond business and mentorship, family members described the celebrant as a devoted husband and caring father.
His wife, Mrs. Queen Ufoma Ununu, praised his calm nature, compassion, and unwavering commitment to family responsibilities.
Despite his demanding schedule, she noted that he always prioritizes the wellbeing of his family while remaining deeply devoted to God.
Their first son, Treasure Ehiose Ununu, speaking on behalf of his siblings fondly called “The Three Wise Men,” described him as a disciplined but loving father who leads the family in daily devotion and treats everyone fairly.
Another quality repeatedly highlighted during the celebration was generosity.
Pastor Emma Nwoye described Engr. Ununu as a quiet giver who helps people sincerely without seeking attention or praise. “Even while managing personal projects and business responsibilities, Engr Ununu continued supporting church activities and humanitarian causes whenever the need arose. We are witnesses and beneficiaries of his good gestures.”
Reflecting on his journey at fifty, Engr. Ununu admitted that the road had not been easy.
He spoke about difficult moments and near-death experiences that could have ended his dreams.
Yet through every season, his faith in God remained unshaken. “I am grateful to God for taking me from the humble beginnings in Okpuno and for preservation, growth, and the opportunity to impact lives.
“My advice to young people is simple – discover your talent, stay consistent, and never despise humble beginnings. The little skill you nurture today can become the foundation of your success tomorrow.”
At fifty, Engr. Enosa Ununu’s life story goes beyond business success. It is the story of resilience, faith, mentorship, compassion, and service.
And as family and friends celebrated his golden jubilee, one truth resonated clearly through every testimony shared: his greatest achievement is not merely the business he built, but the many lives he helped build along the way.
