The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has challenged residents of the state to renew their commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging regular health screenings, and supporting those currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Dr. Soludo made the call on Monday in a message commemorating National Cancer Survivors Day.
She noted that behind every cancer survivor is a story of strength, perseverance, and an unyielding will to live.
According to her, the journey of cancer survivors serves as a powerful reminder that hope is stronger than fear and that, with timely diagnosis, quality healthcare, support from loved ones, and personal determination, remarkable victories are possible.
“Every first Sunday of June, we commemorate National Cancer Survivors Day to celebrate the courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit of individuals who have faced one of life’s toughest battles and emerged stronger.
“Every survivor’s journey is a powerful reminder that hope is stronger than fear and that, with timely diagnosis, quality care, support from loved ones, and determination, remarkable victories are possible. Behind every survivor is a story of strength, perseverance, and an unyielding will to live.
“As we honor cancer survivors today, let us also renew our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging regular health screenings, and supporting those currently undergoing treatment.
“Early detection saves lives, and a culture of preventive healthcare remains one of our strongest tools in the fight against cancer.
“To every survivor, we celebrate you. Your journey inspires hope, your strength inspires courage, and your story reminds us that every day is a gift worth embracing,” she said.
The Anambra First Lady further emphasized the importance of sustained public awareness, preventive healthcare practices, and community support in reducing the burden of cancer and improving outcomes for patients and survivors alike.
