Sir Silas Ikeh, a key member of the Knights of St. John International, Catholic Diocese of Onitsha, has applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ongoing effort to flush out fake pastors from Anambra State.
Ikeh, a former market leader of the International Building Materials Dealers Association Market, Ogbunike, in Oyi Local Government Area, and now a community leader in New Haven Estate, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi LGA, described the exercise as a commendable step towards sanitising Christianity and ridding it of charlatans whose actions have continued to tarnish the image of the religion.
He noted that if the exercise is properly handled without abuse or victimisation, it will restore sanity across various Christian denominations.
According to him, it will also help many people, especially youths, understand that success can only be achieved through hard work, discipline, perseverance, and dedication.
Sir Ikeh made these remarks while speaking with newsmen in his office at the Building Materials Dealers Association Market, Ogbunike, Oyi LGA, yesterday.
The human rights activist and public affairs commentator also expressed concern over the worsening state of insecurity across the country.
He stated that the time has come for Nigeria to seriously consider the establishment of state policing.
According to him, the creation of state police, if properly implemented, would go a long way in addressing the hydra-headed problem of insecurity confronting the nation.
While criticising Nigerian leaders for what he described as their inadequate response to the security challenges facing citizens, Ikeh lamented that many parts of the country have become unsafe, yet political leaders continue to pay lip service to the problem.
He cited the recent incident in Oyo State involving the kidnapping of schoolchildren, stressing that it was unfortunate that government authorities had not acted swiftly enough to secure their release.
Speaking on possible solutions to the country’s challenges, Ikeh urged Nigerians to vote out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and any candidates associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
He lamented the prevailing economic hardship in the country, stating that life has become increasingly difficult for ordinary Nigerians.
In his words:”Nigerians are now like walking corpses. It is one hardship after another. Almost every institution in Nigeria is on the verge of collapse. Nigerians should rise up and vote out President Tinubu and those responsible for the current situation in the country.”
