Peaceland University V-C, Pro-Chancellor, Others Extol Varsity for Emerging Top in Enugu Tech Festival

Still basking in the euphoria of Peaceland University, Enugu, emerging first in the just-concluded Enugu Tech Festival—HACKATHON Competition,the Acting Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Professor Leo Chidi Ilechukwu, has attributed the success to the hard work and dedication of the university’s students and lecturers.
In an interview granted in Enugu, Rev. Fr. Prof. Ilechukwu remarked, “If we can achieve this at this stage as a university, when we grow older, the sky will be our stepping stone.”
He used the opportunity to thank both the students and staff of Peaceland University for their commitment to duty. He also expressed deep gratitude to the students for remaining focused on the purpose of their education.
Prof. Ilechukwu said he was especially delighted to learn that Peaceland University,just two years old outperformed older federal and state-supported universities to claim the top position.
He gave all the glory to God for how far the university has come.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Rev. Fr. Prof. Felix Ugwuozor, also expressed gratitude to God for the impressive feat achieved by the two students who represented the institution.
According to him, “God delights in surprises, and the surprises in this context are crystal clear.”
The Pro-Chancellor commended the Enugu State Government for organizing the science festival, noting that “science rules the world.” He praised the students for their achievement, stating, “This milestone is just the beginning of what the university and its students are yet to unveil.”
He further thanked the lecturers for their unwavering dedication, emphasizing that the award is a reflection of their diligence and commitment. “This award is our university’s and students’ Academic Performance Indicator,” he concluded.
Kelvin Nnamani, a lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering who teaches programming, said he was thrilled by the news.
Confident from the outset, he believed his students had what it took to come first. “We are sparing no effort in making our students the best the world can have,” he said.
Dr. Aloysius Ezeagu, a director at the university, also expressed joy over the achievement, stating: “Peaceland University Enugu coming top among other universities is a testament to the quality of lectures students receive. No good effort goes unrewarded.”
He advised students to stay focused on their studies, avoid cultism, and steer clear of examination malpractice. To the students who represented the university, Dr. Ezeagu wished them success in their future endeavors, reminding them that the world is waiting to benefit from their talents.
It will be recalled that Peaceland University, Enugu, emerged overall winner of the recently concluded Enugu Tech Festival—HACKATHON Competition—and walked away with a cash prize of N1 million. Over 11 tertiary institutions in Enugu State participated in the six-week-long competition.
Participants were tasked with developing a product in any sector of life that could benefit the state and contribute to its advancement.
At the conclusion of the competition, the project by Peaceland University—developed by two 200-level Software Engineering students, Ojini Godspower and Joshua Nnadi—was adjudged the best by the organizers.
The winning project, titled Njem BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), is a software solution designed to streamline the state’s transportation system and reduce commuter stress, should it be adopted by the government.
