Founder of GUU Urges Parents, Government to Invest in Children’s Intellectual Development

Professor Gregory Ibe, Founder and Proprietor of Gregory University Uturu (GUU), has called for increased focus on intellectual development and empowerment as Nigerian children celebrate Children’s Day on Tuesday.
In a statement issued on Monday, Prof. Ibe described children as untapped resources that require significant investment to flourish.
He urged parents, guardians, educators, and policymakers to prioritize the education and skill development of Nigerian children by providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and support to explore their interests, nurture their talents, and reach their full potential.
The statement reads:
“As our children celebrate the 2025 Children’s Day under the theme ‘Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure,’ I extend my heartfelt goodwill to all Nigerian children, especially those in Abia State. This special day is an opportunity to rejoice in the boundless potential each child embodies and to reaffirm our commitment to nurturing their growth and development.
As a passionate advocate for education and intellectual empowerment, I firmly believe that our children are the untapped natural treasures of our nation. They possess unique talents, creativity, and potential that can drive innovation, progress, and prosperity for our country and the world.
On this Children’s Day, I urge parents, guardians, educators, and policymakers to prioritize the education and skill development of our children by providing them with the essential tools, resources, and support to explore their interests, develop their talents, and achieve their fullest potential.
The theme ‘Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure’ reminds us of the critical importance of investing in our children’s future. By doing so, we can foster a culture of innovation and promote intellectual curiosity through access to quality education, resources, and opportunities that inspire their love for learning.
As we celebrate Children’s Day, let us recommit ourselves to creating a brighter future for our children. Together, we can ensure that every child has access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for growth and development.
To the children of Abia State, I say: never stop dreaming, never stop learning, and never stop believing in yourselves, for your potential is limitless.”
