Ikukuoma Anambra: Here Comes the Governor

It is very encouraging to acknowledge the numerous heartwarming reactions already generated by the recent formal presentation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra State governorship flag to the candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma), by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the fast-approaching November 8, 2025 election.
It goes without saying that the choice of a consummate politician like Prince Ukachukwu as the flagbearer of the APC is highly commendable. The reactions generated so far are indeed reassuring, indicating that the party and its members made a very good decision in electing him at the primary.
The name Ikukuoma opens political doors; it opens business, religious, and social doors nationwide—at all seasons, day and night.
As true democrats, we warmly welcome the open discomfort that his emergence and the collection of the flag have generated within political families of other parties. Why not? Ikukuoma has, over the years, stood out as an outstanding shining example in every human endeavor he has engaged in.
The excitement generated by the handover of the party’s flag to him is a strong indication of his public acceptance, popularity, and political sagacity.
It is understandable that other participating candidates and political parties in the November 8, 2025 poll have been forced into rushed tactical meetings. They are reportedly now back to the drawing board for new and heightened strategies and brainstorming sessions. This is with a view to ensuring they are not completely swallowed up and swept away by the “Ikukuoma” tsunami, which literally means ‘wind of glory.’
During the brief but colorful ceremony, President Tinubu expressed high optimism about the APC winning Anambra through Ikukuoma, stating that such a victory would gladden his heart beyond measure. Consequently, he charged the flagbearer, in concert with his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, and the party as a whole, to work together to achieve that goal.
Ukachukwu, a seasoned political gadfly, was the pioneer chairman of the Federal Capital Territory and a member of the House of Representatives representing the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in 1999, among other roles. He boasts a very rich political resume.
His candidature has actually opened a floodgate of new entrants into the party, both at the state and national levels. Because of him, the APC has been described as the largest party in Nigeria today.
Let us all join the moving train!
