Stakeholders in Anambra State governorship election

As the people of Anambra State prepare to elect their next governor on November 8, 2025, it is essential to ensure a purposeful, peaceful, and inclusive campaign environment.
All political parties must be granted equal opportunity to present their visions without intimidation, obstruction, or undue influence.
Free and fair campaigns are not only a constitutional right but also a cornerstone of credible democratic processes that foster good governance. When political parties are allowed to campaign freely, public trust in the electoral process is strengthened. This, in turn, enables the electorate to make informed decisions based on ideas, manifestos, and leadership capabilities, rather than fear, coercion, or misinformation.
A level playing field encourages healthy political competition, increases voter turnout, and nurtures a vibrant democratic culture. The federal and state governments, along with security agencies, must take proactive steps to ensure that no political group is harassed or prevented from engaging with the electorate across the state.
Importantly, when elections are conducted in an atmosphere of fairness and transparency, the eventual winner gains legitimate authority and broad public acceptance.
This helps reduce post-election tensions, legal disputes, and political instability. A candidate who emerges from an open and issue-based campaign earns a strong mandate to govern, making it easier to implement policies and drive development effectively.
Anambra State, known for its high political awareness and economic relevance in the Southeast and Nigeria at large, must uphold democratic principles throughout the electoral process. Doing so will set a positive example for the rest of the country.
Ultimately, unhindered election campaigns promote peace, strengthen democratic institutions, and affirm respect for the will of the people.
Therefore, all stakeholders, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties, security agencies, traditional rulers, civil society groups, and the media must collaborate to ensure a peaceful, inclusive, and issue-driven campaign season. This is the only path toward a credible election outcome that truly reflects the voice and aspirations of Ndi Anambra.
