As part of his ongoing “Thank You Tour” across Local Government Areas in Anambra State, the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has pledged to address the menace of non-state actors, whose activities have claimed numerous lives in the state.

Leading top party figures, including his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Ukachukwu vowed to confront Anambra’s persistent insecurity challenges while addressing hundreds of enthusiastic supporters at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area.

The event witnessed a massive turnout of party loyalists, defectors from other political parties, and local residents, all eager to hear Ukachukwu’s vision for a “New Anambra.”

In his address, the APC governorship candidate reaffirmed his commitment to restoring security across the state and creating employment opportunities for Anambra’s youth.

He criticized the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, alleging that “hundreds have died under the watchful eyes of the current government” due to unchecked insecurity in at least eight local government areas, particularly within the Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

Ukachukwu assured the crowd that, if elected, his administration would implement “lasting strategies” to combat banditry and the activities of non-state actors, ensuring the safety of all residents.

His running mate, Senator Ekwunife, echoed Ukachukwu’s determination, emphasizing the need for Anambra to align with the APC-led federal government to unlock untapped potential and reap the benefits of national development initiatives.

Senator Ekwunife also dismissed claims by APGA supporters that President Bola Tinubu had endorsed Governor Soludo’s re-election bid during a recent visit to the state.

She clarified that the President had instead endorsed the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket.

“APC is the party that will connect Anambra to the mainstream of national politics,” Ekwunife asserted. “The deceptive slogan, ‘this one is our own,’ cannot hold when APGA has no presence beyond Anambra.” she stated.

She urged the crowd to embrace Ukachukwu’s “Wind of Glory” movement for transformative change.

So far, Ukachukwu and his entourage have toured Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West, Nnewi North, Awka North, Awka South, Njikoka, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Oyi, Onitsha North, and Onitsha South Local Government Areas as part of the Thank You Tour.

During the rally, Ukachukwu also outlined his economic agenda. He promised to empower local farmers with non-repayable loans and grants to boost agriculture—an essential occupation in Aguata and other rural parts of the state.

He further announced an ambitious social welfare initiative: the payment of monthly salaries to 400 indigenes from each of Anambra’s 326 wards, totaling 130,400 beneficiaries.

He described this as a poverty-alleviation strategy and a way of giving back to the society that shaped him.

A major highlight of the event was the donation of a brand-new Hummer bus to the Ikukuoma Campaign Organization by Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, a former governorship aspirant and Chairman of the APC Anambra Reconciliation Committee.

Others in Ukachukwu’s entourage included Chief Basil Ejidike, Prof. Cater Nnamdi Umeh, Chief Dozie Ikedife Jr., Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, Hon. Humphrey Nsofor, Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, Rt. Hon. Barr. Rita Maduagwu, Chief Augustine Muomaife, among many others.
