The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has declared his commitment to uplifting the less privileged, particularly barrow pushers and petty traders, rather than subjecting them to heavy taxation.

Speaking during his ongoing Thank You Tour and the inauguration of the Ward Campaign Council in Idemili South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu stated that his administration, if elected, would prioritize economic empowerment over fiscal oppression.

“Instead of taxing the poor, our government will provide grants and support to enable them to do business and thrive,” “We cannot continue to burden barrow pushers and petty traders, people who should be empowered, not punished. Our administration will be inclusive and people-focused, working for the good of all.”he said.

He said that his government, alongside his running mate, Senator Iyom Uche Ekwunife, would be centered on humanity and relief for the masses, not exploitation.

Senator Ekwunife also addressed the gathering, urging the people of Idemili South to reflect critically on the long, standing leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

She questioned the tangible benefits of APGA’s tenure and called for a shift toward a more dynamic and responsive administration.

“It’s time to bring about meaningful and positive change,” “Anambra deserves leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.”she declared.

Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, called on the electorate to reject APGA in the upcoming election.

He symbolically held up a broom APC’s emblem stating, “I came here with the broom that will sweep APGA out of the state in November 8. The people are tired of APGA’s control. The time for real, people-oriented governance has come.” he stated

Chief Vin Obi, an APC chieftain in the local government, echoed the sentiment, acknowledging APGA’s efforts while asserting the need for better leadership.

“APGA has tried, but the people need more,” “It’s time for a leadership that prioritizes progress, inclusivity, and grassroots development.”he said.

The chairman in Idemili South, Chief Obalalike, reinforced the call for change, stressing the urgency of replacing APGA with a government more attuned to the people’s needs.

Meanwhile, Prince Ukachukwu’s visit to Idemili South was met with thunderous cheers and overwhelming enthusiasm from party loyalists and supporters, reaffirming the growing momentum behind his candidacy.

The event, held at Community Primary School in Ojoto, defied the day’s chilly weather with a warm display of unity, purpose, and grassroots energy.

The atmosphere was electric charged with hope and the spirit of change—as a large crowd gathered to welcome the APC flag bearer and his entourage.

Joining Prince Ukachukwu were his formidable running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife; APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike; the Zonal Organizing Secretary for Anambra South, Hon. Dozie Ikedife Jr.; and several other influential party leaders and stakeholders, all united behind the movement for a new, people-focused Anambra.

The visit to Idemili South further cemented Prince Ukachukwu’s deep connection with the grassroots and reflected a surging wave of support sweeping across the state.

From town to town, community to community, one message rang clear: the people are ready for leadership that understands their struggles, represents their voices, and delivers real results.
