Anambra CP to Residents: Help Uncover Criminals Disguising as Freedom Fighters

Commissioner of Police, Anambra State CP Ikioye Orutugu

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has called on residents to support ongoing efforts to expose criminal elements operating under the guise of self-determination agitation.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and ensuring security across the state.

This appeal follows recent intelligence reports indicating that criminals are increasingly exploiting separatist sentiments to carry out violent crimes, including extortion, abduction, and targeted attacks on innocent citizens.

CP Orutugu acknowledged Anambra State’s longstanding reputation for peace, tolerance, innovation, industry, and entrepreneurship.

He therefore emphasized the need for residents to distinguish between genuine advocacy and the actions of individuals leveraging unrest for personal gain.

“The safety and progress of Anambra lie in our collective resolve to reject violence and criminality in all its forms,” he stated.

The Police Command remains fully committed to collaborating with local communities, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and relevant stakeholders to dismantle criminal networks and ensure a safe environment for all.

Residents in need of security services are advised to contact the Command Control Room at 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at 08039334002 for prompt assistance.
